a tentative playlist

Posted by Michael on 27 November, 2006

Hitting the open mic night at Tagd’s on the 6th. I think I might die up there. I think I’ll be going with:

  • Trip to Tagd’s (to the tune of Trip to Sligo, with some lyrics added by me), traditional
  • Eileen Aroon, traditional
  • Between the Bars, Elliott Smith
  • Southwind, traditional
  • Sheebeg Sheemore, traditional

And that’s about as ambitious as I can be for this. Might just run the first four depending on how it goes, end on the Smith.

I am so not ready for this.

UPDATE: And I’m sick again, which means this is looking less likely for December, and I might have to try for January. Fiercely annoyed! So alternatively I may post Baby’s First Song Recordings next weekend instead.

In the meantime, you get supermarket report! Because.. why not? Read the rest of this entry »

and out the other side

Posted by Michael on 3 November, 2006

A fever – a really bad fever – can do things to people. You come in one way; you sweat out of every pore while your brain burns itself up; and you come out the other side of it different. Like the sickness is a kind of last-resort effort to change. Didn’t have a fever, but I had one serious headcold for a week and a half and it sort of feels something like that has happened. Starting to feel my age (and I’ll be damned if I even knew what that was supposed to feel like before now). Read the rest of this entry »
